As I understand it, Profiler's pre-linearization step (Lab linearization) should not be used if you are able to perform linearization at the Rip or Driver level prior to profiling. It would only be used when those options aren't available.

That's what X-Rite's literature says and I think it is a little misleading. If the RIP or device performs an excellent linearization than this feature isn't necessary. Because a lot of linearization processes are so poor, including this step in MP really helps. That's my .02 from lots of real world testing.
