Glad to learn of another PosterPrint user not running their proprietary profiling utility.
I've been running PP since 2001 for output on two 60" HP5000/5500 UV devices.
I also use Monaco Profiler, and have found the pre-linearization step quite helpful with re-profiling when new batches of media arrive.
I follow much the same channel limiting plan as you appear to be doing with a mind to cutting off ink density at a point where channel density appears to level out or to actually reverse.
Peter Supre at ErgoSoft US has suggested it can be helpful to run an additional RIP linearization, once this ink-limited Density file is derived for any given media, but I've not found that generally necessary unless I'm dealing with media that demands a severely restricted total ink percentage.
Have not tried the linearizaton after setting limits, yet.
After trial and error with in-RIP limits I'm beginning to get a good understanding of where the sweet-spot is for various media types. This seems to be the key to running PosterPrint successfully.
One media that has been a bear, in particular, has been back-lit media.
I plan on doing some testing with the linearization in Profiler to see what is up.
