I know, Scott. To be honest, I can no longer recall where I first heard or
read the term. It's just the name through which I got acquainted to the
procedure.
But I am willing to call it something else more precise, like I did when I
stopped called "metamerism" what instead should be called either "color
inconstancy" or "tone stability".

Or perhaps better suited to, or more representative of, the device's true
behavior, because the target samples were tailored for it.
