Funny you should mention this. I was going to suggest that paper as
reading myself, but I hadn't realized that you were the author!
Although off-topic for this thread, a related paper that others might
find interesting is "Virtual Color Target and It's Application for
Testing Input Devices" by Kotera, et al. This paper proposes generating
a virtual sampling of a uniform grid in CIELAB for the purpose of
improved input device characterization. I know input characterization
is a very different beast, but it seemed sort of related to the
discussion.
