Excellent suggestion Klaus.
USWebCoatedSWOPv2 should even be called "AdobeSWOP" because that's what it
is. When people see the name SWOP they tend to think it comes *FROM* SWOP --
and not from Adobe. For years, I was told, Adobe used "SWOP Coated 20%"
without ever seeking SWOP's consent. So, history repeats itself, it seems.
If we transfer the same reasonning to Europe, "Adobe ISO Coated" makes
perfect sense to me and I don't see why you say it is too late.
The problem with "ISO Coated" is that, again, people, including myself, tend
to think that it is either sanctionned by www.iso.org (which we know it is
not -- or it?) or it is coming directly from ISO.
If a profile comes from Fogra then, to be consistent, I suggest that "Fogra
ISO Coated" be used instead. If it comes from ECI then "ECI ISO Coated"
should be used. But, wait einen minuten, I think the name ISO should only be
used *IF and only IF* the profile originates from ISO, the standardizing
organization. I agree that "Fogra ISO Coated" is a progress. But, in my
view, "Fogra ISO Coated" should be really be named "Fogra Europe Coated" and
"ECI ISO Coated" should be named "ECI Europe Coated".
This profile naming scheme clearly and unambiguously designates the country
as the "application", as in "Europe", but also identitify unequivocaly the
originator of the profile, as in Fogra or ECI or SWOP or Chromix or Fuji or
Gracol or X-Rite or HDM or Fuji or Kodak or Adobe or HP or Microsoft or Sun
or AGFA or <gasp> China.
"Adobe EuroCoated v2" or "Adobe Europe Coated v2" makes perfect sense.
