Will the ECI be renaming the profiles to NOT include, or at least, not
start with the term "ISO"?
My understanding is that the ISO is not happy with this naming
convention and I have heard some confusion in the user community about
these being the 'definitive' ISO profiles.
My own experience is that there always was a lot of confusion about
Profile Names like "Euroscale Coated", "Euroscale Coated v2", "ISO
Coated", "Europe ISO Coated FOGRA27" and now "ISO Coated v2 (ECI)".
Some of our Customers still haven't noticed the difference between "ISO
Coated" and "Europe ISO Coated FOGRA27", and I'm quite sure that there
will be a renaissance of Adobes "Euroscale Coated v2" because some have
heard of a "new foobar v2" profile. I fear there is little one can do
against.
On the other hand "ISO Coated" is a clear and straightforward concept,
so I would embrace every supplier who follows ECIs naming scheme, e.g.
with something like "ISO Coated v2 (Adobe)".
IMO "ECI ISO Coated v2" and "Adobe ISO Coated v2" would be even better,
but I think it's too late now.
Regards,
Klaus
