This is completely off topic, and if you don't use Outlook you can stop reading right now, but I've noticed a growing number of people on the list who are disturbingly oblivious to the fact that they are repeatedly attaching garbage "winmail.dat" files to their email messages. The files are usually quite small, but if the receiver is stuck on dialup (as I happen to be at the moment), they can get pretty obnoxious when you have a lot of messages to download.

Here is a helpful article that can tell you how to stop sending these useless files to unsuspecting people who don't use the same email client you do:

Sig images are just as bad--sometimes worse. Fancy text styling and pictures don't look professional, they invariably look horrible to everyone but you, and they can even render some messages completely illegible for the recipient. Spam and virus filters may also simply prevent your message from ever being received if it contains unsolicited attachments, leaving you to wonder why you never get any replies.

Email is for text based communications, so just send text unless asked to do otherwise; it's just good manners, and the entire world will thank you.
