I agree, dirt and dust is a problem, and the color shift and darkening with
a thick, UV absorbing laminate over a paper with fluorescent whiteners is
quite unacceptable. One of the laminates I use is a very thin transfer
material that has a small effect on the white point, but it wipes out the
gloss differential and scuffing problems associated with Epson Ultrachrome
inks, and significantly increases the gamut in the shadow areas. It also has
a finish that is just slightly less glossy than the aqueous coating on our
presses.
