Just a heads up that the pipeline is moving toward 16 bit. ATI released the Avivo card. A bit of light reading:

I have been working with 32 bit technology for over 3 years:
In summary - the discussion regarding gamut, accuracy and technology is converging on higher bit support more quickly via the PC platform. I would presume that Mr. Jobs is working to make sure his graphics support is competitive. Any MacWorld details?
