Any saw, even a very fine one, will leave a lot of dust on the cut ends.
Also one of the two halve rolls will have a cut lead edge side to the heads.
That could be problematic.
I've seen paper choppers at print shops that cleanly chop through solidly
stacked paper and cardboard.
Perhaps a local printer would agree to do it?
For some support you may first want to ram rod a solid roll of paper halfway
down the hollow cardboard tube core before chopping.
