Hi Dave,
Shopping for a RIP is much like shopping for a car. Do you need 4wd? How
many passengers can it hold? Gas mileage etc... Anyone here could tell you
why one RIP is better than another based on their own workflow and
experiences. I think if you were to share what you are trying to do in
detail, the RIP recommendations may change. IE: What is important to you?
Nesting, Built in Color Profile building, multiple printer support, Spot
color support, 3rd party media, halftone dot simulation, accurate
calibration, Light color control, client server support, speed etc....
BTW, The Spectroscan is a slow beast...yes, accurate, but painfully slow. It
does have its fit and if Gretag would allow you to change filters on the Eye
one the Spectroscan could go away forever. Unless you are getting a great
deal on this or need something very nitch, I am not sure how many people
would recommend it.
Thanks,
Troy
