Slide the
image across to the Cinema Display, however, and it looks the same in Photoshop
and Aperture.
I can see it
jump from dark to light when I move it from the Artisan to the Cinema Display.
I can't figure out why.>
I’m inferring from your post that you have a dual monitor
arrangement with an Artisan and Apple Cinema Display (also assuming that they
are both profiled to the same white point, gamma, and luminance). When you slide
the image from the Artisan over to the Apple Cinema Display, are you refreshing
the image? When you drag an image from one monitor to the next in Photoshop, it
will still be displaying the image as if were on the previous monitor until you
refresh it, say with a quick command-Y toggle. You can see this more
evidently by creating a duplicate image, moving it to the opposite monitor,
command-Y twice, then move it back to the first and compare it to the original,
They should look a bit different, until you command-Y toggle again. In
fact, you can drag the image so that its halfway on one monitor and halfway on
the other, than hit command-Y twice. Now drag the image entirely on either
monitor. If the difference between the monitors is big enough, you’ll see
that half the image is still displaying with the previous monitor profile and
looks “cut” in half color-wise. A quick command-y twice updates it.
I’m not familiar with Aperture, so I can’t tell you why things look
ok there, but it may be that the image is displaying correctly only on the
Artisan in Photoshop? If you’ve profiled the Artisan and set your color
settings correctly in Photoshop, I’d be more apt to trust it.
