Hello Folks

We have
an Agfa Apogeex Workflow and CTP System which also has
an Agfa Sherpa Digital Proofing Plotter (Based on Epson 9600 Inkjet Engine
with Agfa Inks and driven by Agfa RIP)
also few Heidelberg and Komori 4 Color Presses

We are having problems with LCD monitors in our color management system such
that

1. We calibrate the LCD Monitor Using a suitable Calibrator and generate a
profile (Apple 30" LCD on one Site, Apple 23" LCD on another, Philips 21"
LCD on another site)

2. Our monitor calibrator supports LCD monitors.

3. We have generated ICC profiles for Sherpa and Printing Presses using a
Gretag spectrophotometer that came with our Agfa Apogeex workflow system.

4. We installed the profiles to Apogeex and Macs and Photoshops (CS I)

5. With CRT Monitors, we can closely match CRT and Sherpa Digital Proof and
Sherpa Digital Proof with prints from printing press

6. With LCD monitors, picture on the calibrated LCD is bright enough to
display images with improper color curves (for printing) as if they are good
for printing and misleads our printing customers. They see picture looks so
good on their calibrated LCD monitors that we are having difficulty in
convincing them the image will print not so good and needs selective color
correction.
When we open same docs on our Calibrated CRT, look on screen matches look on
proof and print. But even with a calibrated LCD, image on screen looks much
better than it would print on paper. This holds true for all the LCD
monitors we have tested. Even with the lowest brightness setting, LCD is
much brighter that paper as it looks.

Any suggestions with LCD monitors? What can we do?

Best Regards
And many thanks in advance

Ihsan Elhan
