Well, except when it make things worse.
I would recommend that you leave the filter in the "UV
excluded" position on the right for all Profiler measurements,
regardless of the presence of OBs. Not doing so will can have some
minor consequences (especially when proofing) that many wouldn't even
notice.
And I'd only recommend doing such a thing if it makes your
situation better, and you have no other options.
You will likely find it makes things better when your
viewing environment is poorer in UV than the lamp in
the instrument - turning on the UV filter makes the illumination
in the instrument better match your viewing environment.
Of course if your viewing environment has a similar or greater
level of UV than the instrument's lamp, using the UV filter
will make things worse.
Measuring without the UV filter leaves open the option of
correcting for any number of different viewing environments
without re-measuring, using software FWA correction.
The presence of FWA in papers does make it rather tricky
getting a good visual match in a viewing environment with
any significant UV content, so things are much easier if
paper can be chosen with a low FWA content, or one that
matches the paper you are proofing (if that's what you're
trying to do).
