Peter,
I had to drop the bias down as the black was too bright and
a bright St-Patty's day green. After getting the shadow
value under control the white luminance ended up at 68
cd/m?. I'll see if dfsdirect.com will agree it's dead.
Otherwise it's only a 150$ lost. I´d be more than willing
to pay 1000$+ for a new DiamondPro 2060u. I'm now being
offered a similar monitor that's still *very* bright and
one I can test before buying so there's another waiting in
the wings if need be.

I see that Beng has come out with what might be a very
attractive product:
http://www.benq.com/products/LCD/?product=810
If it lives up to it's hype for a usually low Benq price I
suspect we'll see affordable 21-22" products on the market
within 12 months. I think we're still in the 'early adopter
mode' for those who can afford $3000+ for a competitive
LCD solutions (Eizo CE210W/$1400CAD - CG210/BK/$3300CAD -
NEC LCD2180WGLEDBKSV/ $8609.99CAD)

Marco,
I've worked with many LCDs and am disappointed with what
they display on-screen. I'll stick to CRTs (for my main
screen) until LCDs get good enough for *my* needs. I
recently recommended a Samsung 970P to someone who wanted a
monitor for general use + some photo work and had a very
low budget and was not a 'colour correction' geek.. I
agree, *pretty decent* LCD monitors can be found for under
$1000. But I'd rather stick with the kind of CRTs that cost
at least that $$ not that long ago until something really
worthwhile for under $1500 (or even $2000CAD) comes along.
Google search "Karl Lang on LCD displays" to read some
interesting comments from Karl Lang in LCD quality and
issues .
Thanks to all who confirmed that this new arrival is pretty
well DOA.
