But one can still use an EyeOne Display 2 or Optix-XR coupled with profiling

Not enough for color-critical work, quite likely.

You are not mentioning black point, which is usually the first thing I hear
CRT aficionados lamenting in LCDs. Personally, I think too much is being
made of it, but it seems to be the paramount concern.
