Hi Marco,

Sure, you can profile your TV if you hook it up to your computer if
you like to ;-)
> By the way, does it offer separate brightness, contrast, and RGB controls?
It has the controls which make sense for a TFT:
Backlight brightness and RGB gain, no Bias (Brightness) controls.

Of course, but then you pay for a factory calibration you do not use.
[advantages of a CRT]

You're right. I forgot this.

One also has to take into account that the used luminance for LCDs is
most of the time higher then for CRTs. We had customers who said that
nothing could match their good old Barcos - especially in the dark
regions. Quite some time ago I showed a Quato Radon 21 to them and
they agreed that this would make a fine display for color critical
work, but still they thought that "of course" their Barcos would be
more accurate. Then we compared a softproof on the Barco and on the
Quato with a proof print. The customer was very surprised to see that
the match to the Quato was _much_ better -- especially in the dark
regions where the CRT was not able to show the finer details. So I
don't think that in everyday work black point will be a concern
normally. Especially when you consider that newer hardware-calibrated
displays are even better then the TFT used for this "shoot-out".
With kind regards
Peter
