I may add a precision here to:
That depends who you talked to on this list, with all
due respect Mike. I
recall Bruce Lindbloom many times stating on this List
that only the cyan
and yellow were typically out of gamut on a good CRT.
The above statement is correct for Apple RGB compliant
displays. For sRGB compliant displays, the only
out-of-gamut patch is the cyan one, and for Adobe RGB
compliant displays (we are getting there), there is NO
out-of-gamut patch.

Alas, no :(
I wish the user had the choice of whatever set of
patches he or she desires
to use in this procedure. MonacoOptix XR pro uses the 24
patches
corresponding to the ColorChecker chart but basICcolor
Display and, if I'm
not mistaking, ColorEyes Display both uses a different
set of patches chosen
to correspond to some other logic.
The Optix package is measuring the ColorChecker chart.
Right.
Don't quite
remember what basICColor display is measuring, but I
seem to recall only gray
values...?
No, there are many colors also.
Of course, if the monitor's gamut isn't capable of
displaying all
the colors in the Color Checker due to gamut limitation,
