Hi Roger, et al,
At least with OPTIX, you can use any set of reference data you
choose, the ColorChecker just happens to be the default. I suppose
you could even use the "GRACoL2006_Beta4" characterization data and
determine exactly where you monitor is at relative to a print
standard (well, soon-to-be-I hope-so standard!). You just better hope
the lead weight and/or suction cup holds on long enough to read all
1600 patches!
