Hi Derek, et al,

I talked to Jim yesterday and questioned him on this very point. According to Jim, it seems you can indeed measure charts other than the TC3/MX3 target with GMG on the HP.

I can see this as being a two-edged sword though. On one hand, you'd be measuring at least the "full gamut" and MX3 calibration target with the same spectro (good). On the other, if you want to use a chart other than one of the single page charts like the ECI2002 or GMG TC4, it could take QUITE a while for it to print/dry/measure each page in turn (maybe not-so good or at least time and media consuming). Think about the +10K patch charts we were using for the gamut files!

Since the full gamut file for the MX3 does not require combinations of K+CMY, I could see building a custom chart just for the MX3 that would have just as much "resolution" (large CMY matrix) as a the limited gamut chart but with far fewer patches, something like half the number of patches required for the limited gamut file. In most of my custom charts, something like half the number of patches are simply covering K+CMY combinations which aren't necessary for the MX3.

Regards,
Terry Wyse

Are you talking about profiling mx4 and mx5 or just the calibration with mx3?

According to gmg - 10 min is enough for Z2100 mx3 chart.

I don't think you can really profile Z2100 with only build in i1.

Can you? without ANY external spectro for gamut files or mx4 /mx5 iterations?
