Tom,
While the CE Eizo line is a nice monitor, I'd have to suggest at the
level your at you need
to be considering a Eizo CG211. The CG line has a higher quality RGB
panel designed
to work accurately with soft proofing, and it has a much broader off
axis view angle to mention
a few reason to go with the CG line.
The decision you need to make is if you need that quality level to work
efficiently, and if
super accurate soft proofing is truley a critical part of yoru workflow.
Comparing a CG line Eizo to any Cinema screen is like a Ferrari to a
Chevy. Not in the same
league in pricing, performance, componetry, factory tolerances, etc.,
etc. The only likeness is
they are both "monitors". Frankly, the Apple monitor is right on par
with a Dell, so if your
priority is saving money and you can do without the Apple logo....that's
your monitor.
I see the mistake here is you say "I'm willing to part with this much
$$$" but you say that without
regard to the needs you have. I suggest one first determines the
requirements, then find out what
your options are price wise to meet those standards.

Subject: Apple versus Eizo Monitors
Hi,
I need to replace my CRT monitor, an old Diamond Pro 920. I am a fine art
photographer and print my work on an Epson 10000 (will most likely upgrade
when Epson comes out with its new line this spring/summer). I do a lot of
color critical PS work with my images and use a nicely calibrated workflow.
I am considering either a 24" Eizo CE 240W (~$1600) or an 23" Apple Cinema
Display (~$1000). The Eizo would be the very upper end of what I am
currently willing to spend. Would the higher contrast ratio of the Eizo
display be a problem for the kind of work I do? I would appreciate hearing
perspectives on this decision I need to make. Many thanks!
