I hoped Photoshops XMP implementation would be clever enough to record

Nobody in a print production environment has time to read that. I'd
settle for Bridge telling me the color space and profile (or untagged
status) for all files INCLUDING EPS AND JPEG!!!
I established the abovementioned naming convention basically because I
was tired of wasting my time on guessing *how* a given file once was
converted when I have to make a revision. I concede a point to you that
nobody in a print production environment has time to read lengthy logs,
but guessing the rendering intent and conversion options is also
inefficient an a source of fault.
And: yes, I already set up Bridge to display the profile name, but
that's often not enough. My naming convention requires discipline an is
also a potential source of fault. It would be really prolific to obtain
a brief aggregation of the most important history steps in Bridge's
Metadata tab. Therefore I asked the list for a solution to affect
Photoshop's way of recording them.
It'd also be really cool if I could set batch parameters that would
include different actions based on color space. For example, maybe a
different rendering intent for RGB and CMYK and/or different assumed
profiles for RGB and CMYK.
I wrote a little application for this task. It shows a Finder-like
window listing all image files with additional columns for profile and
color space. It allows to sort and select files and trigger actions
based on these informations even in huge directory trees on remote servers.
I wish you a Peaceful an Happy New Year.
