ROTFL!
How many is "many"?
How many photographers have seen a press working, have knowledge of
the physics and chemistry of the printing process, have seen a set of
progressives, are able to proof CMYK, are able to proof halftone
bitmaps (or at least simulate them) or even created an old-fashioned
contract proof from a set of films?
You can count them on the fingers of two hands and the majority of
those who have done the above have given up photography and become
colour management consultants...
The fact that the monkeys employed in pre-press departments are as
clueless as photographers is simply an indication that cost is the
number one priority in the printing industry - not quality.
