Greetings synchers,
Am back on the list after almost a year...
Am going to buy some kind of Mac computer that has a good monitor for
color-correcting photos.
The photos are part of a natural history book destined for sheet-fed litho
press.
Important aspects:
Color-correction will be the only use this system is put to; I'm trying to
finish this book so I can get on with my life. Thus, it's not important
that the system be loaded with cool features to meet all conceivable future
needs. It matters only that the monitor give good color, can be
calibrated with a Spyder or similar, and that the system can run whatever
version of OS X runs Photoshop 7.
My existing G3 peapod iMac runs well but the monitor is not up to this
task. Essentially I'm buying a new system to get a decent monitor, one
that will make proper calibration and color correction possible.
I have little idea what is out there currently, or what they cost. Any
guidance would really help.
