I tried with canvas at 0.020" and it was not possible.  I talked to the
R&D director at Xrite who worked with his lab folks...eventually they
told me to buy an ICColor.  It seems that they had tried to shim it and
it did not work.

I have 3 ICColors that read several charts a day, 250 days a year...they
read this type media, but have difficulty with skewing.  Basically, the
media migrates in a twisting direction over the length of the chart.  It
takes some 'finesse' to position them where they will read...

HP has a new line of printers (so far, the Z2100 and Z3100) that have a
built-in spectro that creates a profile for you.  I am playing with mine
to see how it works...
