Title: Re: HP Z3100
WIR in prelim testing is above 250+ yrs for B&W. The K inks are pretty much pure carbon so you’ll not be able to do much better with current inkjets.
I get L 14.9 or so on Hahnemuhle PhotoRag 308, around the same on their Smooth Fine Art. The L value doesn’t change much with colour composites as the really neat thing about the driver is if the black or grey values are near at at an R=G=B then they are printed as grey inks only. The Dmax is void of colour so it’s basically a black only composition , albeit multiple blacks.
Color Dmax is around L 4-5 on some glossy with all profiling throughput. Here too there are some media that do better than others. There is some margin for linearisation, hence the figures are always left enough room to meet the linearisation and profiling validation.
Another interesting fact is the HP pigments are more stable in bare bulb testing than the other two makers. This is good news for canvas and fine art exposed to light without being glass mounted.

It sounds great, but I would like more information about the Dmax of the black in the B&W and the color prints using various matte and fine-art papers. I also would like more information on the archival longevity of such prints. Any testing yet from Wilhelm?
