I interpreted the article as an overview of how digital images are captured and displayed and why a raw image workflow has advantages. Sure it mentions Lightroom because that's Adobe's raw app and the article is on Adobe's site. But because I work with raw images in Aperture I don't equate raw with Adobe, so it didn't seem like a mere ad to me. Maybe it was intended that way. Is this list just an ad for ColorSync, Apple, Adobe and color professionals? Maybe, but people find it useful sometimes too.

As far as whether or not Karl's paper furthers anyone's knowledge, yeah I would imagine there are people reading this list that don't use raw or do and wouldn't mind reading a paper about it. More people read the list than the usual suspects of frequent contributors.
