Thanks for the quick input Andrew. I appreciate your depth of knowledge and
experience as I've witnessed on the list. While I might not now understand
much about Raw rendering capabilities and info about processing color
spaces, you have reaffirmed my thoughts on the two packages and given me
some ideas in terms of the possibility of DNG being the 'master format' for
all of my image content. I get the feeling that DNG might not be ready for
that role yet, but you seem to indicate that things are moving in a
direction that might make that more realistic in the near future?
I whole-heartedly agree that Aperture's main impact will end up being that
it forced other companies (Adobe) to commit to the idea. I wish Aperture
success as I am empathetic to people/organizations that take risks in
pursuit of innovation and excellence, but I would find it difficult to
imagine choosing Aperture over Lightroom (if indeed it shows that I need
either of them?).
