I think this problem will never be solved. I have a pair of trousers

The photo in the catalogue should look how? Greenish when viewed under
incandescent light and brown when viewed in daylight?
Well of course if you had a spectral camera, and a spectral
printing system for the catalogue, your trousers would
look greenish in the catalogue when viewed under incandescent light
and brown (with no green whatsoever) in daylight :-)
Unfortunately both the camera and catalogue printing process
(plus all the processing in between) are based on tri-stimulus
colorimetry, not spectral reproduction, so the interaction
of the light and the trousers is frozen at a rather early
stage in the process.
