I have done a little work profiling still images from HDTV and CGI for use
in print.
As you state there is no ICC profiling used in these technologies.
Using what the TV people call a 'monitor, a television set for optimum
colour!! I visually compared the still 'screen grabs' on a profiled Eizo
using differing RGB profiles with the same image on the 'monitor.
In both cases the most accurate match to the TV 'monitor' was viewing the
still images with Adobe RGB (1998) assigned.
Not the most scientific way, but it seems to give a good result on paper
when converted to CMYK.
