The new Color Solutions device linker basICColor DeviL which is due for release in July will have a feature that will make a manually scalable RI obsolete. It builds ICC device links with a dynamic compression that is based on the gamuts of the input and the output profile.

While iterative approaches may be required in high-high-end environments, basICColor CMYKick can already build proofer profiles in the following order of accuracy:

Criterion Measured Result PatchNo. Allowed Tolerance
Mean ∆E*ab = 0.70 3.0
Maximum ∆E*ab = 1.31 (A12) 6.0
Substrate Max. ∆E*ab = 0.51 (B17) 3.0
Primaries Max. ∆E*ab = 0.83 (A7) 5.0
3color Gray Mean ∆H* =	0.71 1.5
Primaries Maximum ∆H*=	0.83 (A7) 2.5

This is based on the fogra Media Wedge CMYK and the fogra39 reference data, measured and checked with basICColor catch control according to the 2007 fogra criteria.
