Of course it doesn't as it can only affect "native" InDesign elements, text
and graphics. I'm not sure about embedded, but I think, in principle, they
should be affected too, the same way embedded images are affected under
Illustrator in a mode change (it's one big Adobe color management model).

Keep in mind that AiCSx placed content is treated as PDF so InDesign does
not offer any interface to access to its potentially myriads of embedded
profiles, not just the output intent.

I remind you that this is true only when the output profile (InDesign's
Document profile) is *different* from the embedded profile. If the two
match, not only in names but also in content, then, a null transform is said
to ensue.

Right. InDesign is stubborn in that way.

Yes, that's the only way to effect this change, AFAIK.
A little convoluted for my taste, if you ask me, but it works.
