Make sure that you have not unknowingly adjusted the system contrast in the Universal Access system preference pane. And while you're at it, disable the keyboard shortcuts for all of those functions in the Keyboard Shortcuts tab of the Keyboard & Mouse preference pane. I don't know if that's your problem, but lots of people have been bit by it.
