What calibration devices could be used for this? I could try to hold a
normal monitor calibration device close to the projection screen and hope
it will capture the colors from the test patch.
Any ideas? Has anybody profiled and calibrated a projector already?
Yes; I use an ordinary i1 Display for calibrating projectors (since GM won't
let me use my i1Photo without paying them an extortionate amount for turning
on its ability to do this, as well as buying the Beamer hardware).
I sellotape the i1Display to the top of a tripod, put it next to the screen
(about 6") at about 45 degrees to avoid its own shadow, and plug it in to
the laptop controlling the projector. Gives very good results and is a great
way of showing an audience what calibration and profiling can do for
projectors and monitors.
May not be possible in large halls with fixed projectors, but in small
halls/rooms, it is fine.
Bob Frost.
