Unused, do they deteriorate over time?
1- phosphors should be OK
2- the CRT tube may slowly contaminate. It should be
energized now and then (once a month, lets say) for a few
hours so that the "getters" (a heated material) trap the
impurities.
3- Capacitors in the power-supply may leak
Overall, since they are based on old tried and tested TV
tubes technology, they should work a long time (especially
if not cranked too high!). At least until we can get LCDs
with equivalent (or better) overall characteristics (I
would say 2-3 years for such LCDs at a reasonable price!).

I found a replacement for my dead 7 years old CRT, and I
like it. But since they're a dying breed, I was thinking
about stashing up a bunch of them. Unused, do they
