Perhaps the only thing not spelled out is the typical
means of interpolating within the clut table.
Typical methods are multi-linear or simplex
(ie. in 3D, Trilinear and Tetrahedral) interpolation.
For more information on these, Google is your friend...

Googling indeed gives lots of results. Which method is used in Argyll?

Are you aware of any document that contains a MSE comparison of the different interpolation methods, for different CLUT sizes?

As you see I'm trying to dig a bit deeper than plain usage of CMSs, as with every thing new, it turn out to be a bit complex...
