That would alter the meaning of "metameric match" or "metameric failure" to such an extent that one might as well make up a new vocabulary altogether and try to promote that based on no particularly cogent reason.
Then one might as well use "color inconstancy" to describe metameric matches or failures -- why not? If there is no need to ground a definition on some verifiable science and established vocabulary, and all that matters is how well one is able to justify the use of inaccurate terminology after the fact -- then the sky is the limit...!
I apologize if I am sounding snippy, but this is starting to irritate me.
