That's a fine approach, David.
It actually feeds the argument that either gammas (1.8 or 2.2) or L* can be
have "independent" of the hardware. Which goes against the point that Uli
was making that there is such thing as a "native", natural, sort of hardware
gamma. He'd argue that only one of those two gamma values are "best" for
your hardware.
