Hello list, hello Graeme
PDF 1.7 is now approved to be ISO 32000. The PDF 1,7 reference as basis
for ISO 32000 could be downloaded here:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/pdf/pdf_reference.html
Section 4.5.5 is about DeviceN colorspace incl. several tables about
e.g. tint solidity and dotgain.
Having a first look over, I havn´t found any informations how this
attributes should be rendered to the profile connection space.
But as this attributes are now part of the ISO 32000 it should be
possible to ask Adobe to publish together with ISO TC 130 a report,
which makes thinks more clear.
Regards
Jan-Peter

I havn´t tested yet, if the opacity-informations and the assigned
grayscale ICC-profile are used in Acrobat, but I would expect that it
should work.
Adobe is very active to promote PDF as an ISO standard and also the
ICC-specs are now an ISO standard. So it would make a lot of sense to
describe the Adobe model for spotcolor opacity and gradation both in
the ISO-standards for PDF and ICC-profiles.
It may make a lot of sense, but I'd be rather surprised if this
were to happen, since such an algorithm is likely to be proprietary
"secret sauce". (This is from the perspective of having created
such an algorithm for the Colorbus RIP :-)
