When you create the "Flattened" PDF
check what flattener preset you are using and
make sure it is set at its highest - or create one even higher
Your RIP may not handle it anyway.
Then - as a last resort -
print to the HP from Acrobat
with "Print as Image" set in the Advanced tab.

a drop shadow or other effect that's applied in InDesign CS3?
