Hi Roger,
I can't answer on the Windows platform, but the answer is yes for the
Macintosh.
However, I did an experiment and found that if you change the monitor
profile with the Photoshop and Bridge applications running on your
machine, Photoshop does instantly update the color management and
display the image correctly. However, you must restart Bridge to get it
to notice the change.
I have two custom monitor profiles that were made with Gretag Eyeone
display. One is gamma 1.8 and the other is 2.2. I use the gamma 2.2
for all graphics work. I do this because I do most of my work in a
color space that is gamma 2.2. I know it should not matter, but I
believe that using a gamma 2.2 requires less computing and converting.
However, I also do video work using Final Cut Studio. This program does
not seem to use the color management available in the OS. It seems to
assume that you have your monitor set to the Macintosh default gamma of
1.8. Of course I use an external video monitor for all critical color work.
I have a AppleScript that allows me to switch very quickly between these
two gammas.

Quick question: are images color-managed to the display inside the Bridge?
