And how good are the proofs you're getting this way?
Have you measured De?

I own a small design agency as well. We have a Z3100 Non-PS. We have
to use
a RIP and use EFI Designer Edition 5.1. I build CMYK profiles using
HP's
APS and print the CMYK target through EFI Designer Edition (then
load the
target as a sheet on the Z3100 and tell APS to build a CMYK profile
- the
Z3100 reads in the target). Once the profile is built I link the
profile in
the RIP and apply RIP Based Color Management in our workflow.
Meaning,
designers choose the EFI PPD and choose Printer / PostScript Color
Management from In-Design, Quark, Photoshop, Illustrator etc. They
key is
having a RIP so designers don't have to mess with a bunch of
settings and
with a RIP can profile for CMYK.

A client of mine is a small agency, (about 10 people), with an HP
Z3100. Their workflow has them printing from Quark 7 and Illustrator
CS3. Since I have not worked with this printer before I had a few
questions I was hoping the list members could answer.
1) I know this has a built in EyeOne and can build it's own profiles.
How are the profiles then applied?
2) Since the client does not have a RIP running this printer what
would be the best way to get color managed prints when printing from
Quark 7? And Illustrator?
3) I know Quark 6.5 had poor color management at the best. How much
better is Quark 7's. (I know it has better options - how well do they
work?)
Thanks!
