Hi Lorenzo
I've got several proofing queues made with an Isis (using ORIS
ColorTuner) and I validate proofs with an eye-one all the time.
According to the Isis, my compliance to GRACoL is avg. dE of around
0.6 with a max of about 3 (on an IT8.7/4 chart).
I'm using GMG Colorproof, and my Isis measures 0.54 avg delta-e and 3
max in the ECI2002 chart, pretty much the same!
According to the eye-one, my compliance to GRACoL is avg is around 2
and my max patch is about 4.5. So, my proofs don't look like they are
super compliant, but I always get in under the ISO 12647-7 tolerances!
With my eye-one, in the Fogra wedge, my Average delta-e is 1.8 but my
max is 4.45 with maximum dH -4.32 in the 100% cyan patch. So, it's not
ISO 12647-7 compliant according to the eye-one pro, but surely is with
the Isis measurements!
If you are getting 4dE difference between your eye-one and Isis,
something is definitely off. Are you definitely using the same UV
filtration on both?
I'm not using UV filtration in any equipment.
If you are taking both readings with UV included, and your stock has a
lot of optical brighteners, that might increase the dE between the 2
devices.
My stock has very little OB, the paper color is 95.4, 0, -1.4.
The bottom-line is: I know the Isis and eye-one pro have different
architectures, the different lamps, etc But, each device should have an
internal calibration mechanism, probably in firmware, minimizing such
differences. I believe each device should have a minimum deviation from
a know standard, such the BCRA tiles, in the specification. AFAIK, the
only 45/0 spectrophotometer with deviation from BCRA tiles in the specs
is the Datacolor 245, with a higher price point than the devices
discussed in this thread.
My expectations with my current equipments were a better match in
spectral readings, and a 4 delta-e difference is much less than
desirable (and necessary for current standards!). I believe these
expectations are pretty much same from many members from this list.
Best Regards,
Lorenzo
