I've had a lot of luck using the laminate sheet from DuPont waterproof or
Fujiproof.  It's an extra manual step, and doubles the cost of the proof,
but for a high end proof it's really good.  The gloss is the same no matter
what the ink coverage and it's not "too glossy".
