Is the screen profile good ? Is the print profile good ? Are they
being applied correctly ? How should you know ?
In order to allow vendors to escape the responsibility for any
computer product they ship, diagnostic tools have never been
incorporated into any PC products - basically you are on your own to
debug your color chain, like all the hardware and software sold to
you.
Thankfully standard physical engineering is better defined - I can
stick a voltmeter in any mains outlet and see if it has the right
voltage, or open any tap to see whether water flows out.
There is only one way to be sure that printing is working with your
OS, and that is to buy a RIP - then the RIP vendor owns that piece.
