Steve,
How about eciRGBv2?
It's based on D50 like ProPhoto. Its gamut is large enough to enclose the
whole GRACoL2006_C1 comfortably. It is based on L* for tone mapping. I
personally use it all the time when I must deal with very saturated imagery.
The rest of the time is spent in sRGB.
The only problem with eciRGBv2 is Adobe's willingness to lock users into
ColorMatchRGB, sRGB, ProPhotoRGB and AdobeRGB. So, if you're a CameraRAW
user, eciRGB is out.
BTW, you don't have to work with a collossal color space like ProPhoto for
many, many subjects. But when you do, I'd advise your photographer strictly
adheres to 16 bit encoding. Although Kodak insists 8bit is fine.
