Actually, MeasureTool is reporting TVI based on the DIN filter standard
rather than Status T. This could make a difference in the yellow TVI.

Often no, per the calculation methods you mentioned.

I'm sure there are, but from an ICC profile, you could use the free
Dotgain Calculator from www.brucelindbloom.com. This uses XYZ data to
calculate TVI (as does ColorThink). If you're using MeasureTool
(licensed) you can measure spectral data, then calculate dotgain
yourself with an Excel worksheet, applying the Murray-Davies equation to
the CMYK scales. That way, you could calcuate TVI based on XYZ or status
T density (exported from Measuretool). Sometimes there a close
correlation between the two calculation methods, sometimes there isn't.

You could also create a text file of CMYK scales, drop it into a
ColorThink Worksheet, apply the profile (absolute rendering) and export
a text file of XYZ data from which to calculate TVI using either Bruce's
Dotgain Calculator or your own excel spreadsheet.

I'm really not sure overall how this assists with paper selection
though. If you've already undergone press calibrtation towards "fogra
characterizations" and press profile generation, hasn't that choice
already been made?
