I find it a strange trend that Eizo now affix their premium CG label

They used to be more circumspect and label them ColorEdge or something
like that.
But the CG241W is still decent value for money, I guess.
I agree that the shouldn't be putting the CG label on monitors that
exhibit significant colorshift off-axis. We recently returned a couple
of the new 30" EIzos (CG301W) because the off-axis color was so bad.
We got the big screens so that clients could sit with retouchers and
see the screen better, but unless the client sits directly behind the
retoucher, it doesn't work. I really though that the CG label meant
that this wouldn't be an issue, so I was greatly disappointed as well.

The View Angle Color Shift phenomena you describe is common with PVA
or S-PVA and Wide Screen technology. CHROMiX has tested many
monitors and found that even so, the CG241W still exhibits the least
amount of this View Angle Color Shift of anything comparable in its
class.
I hate this designation of "anything in its class". So the CG211 is
NOT in its class? Oh, well, they both are part of the CG line of
monitors, and they both cost over $2500, but you have to sacrifice
viewing angle if you want wide gamut? What exactly are the "classes"?
Class 1: Monitors that don't have off-angle viewing problems. Class 2:
Wide gamut monitors Class 3: 30" monitors. Hmmm... it looks like every
monitor in the CG line is in it's own class. Being better than other
manufacturers in a given "class" is worth something I guess, but
consistency across your own line of monitors would be worth a lot more.
