I though that Adobe RGB was based on an old 'inherited' colour space
(SMTPE-240M) proposed for use in HDTV in the US and that Adobe simply
renamed the space? AFAIK, it wasn't specifically created for its
applications but through a mixture of industry presence and ignorance, has
become a 'default' industry setting. (Other spaces are available!)
As to whether it's 'better' than sRGB, doesn't that depend on what you're
doing?
Kind regards
