With this combination there are settings in Silverfast which allow

Exactly. And it doesn't. But Martin missed the significant
differences in the data and processing paths here. I was going to
ask him when and where on his Scanmate he handles demosaicing the
bayer pattern but figured I'd rather not confuse him anymore
although he could start here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demosaicing.
As you point out, getting "raw" high bit linear RGB data from a
trilinear scanner isn't anything at all unique.
I think I need to point out that the story going around these parts
that I once turned up for a photo shoot with an F10 under my arm
because I thought it was a camera is a malicious lie spread by my many
enemies.
As to being confused, that's always a possibility after my customary
drop of lunch -- so I'll need to remind meself of my pre-prandial
ramblings:
Being more of a fan of the cursed PMT, my only CCD scanner is
Scanview's noisy F10. The F10 will give you RAW high-bit data if you
like your images linear. Do other CCD scanners do that -- or is the
F10 unusual in this respect?
Ahh, I see the problem here. I asked a simple question: do other CCD
scanners give you raw, linear, high-bit data?
An opportunity for the ponytailed Mr Segal to answer in his faux-
friendly manner while secretly thinking "that idiot thinks his scanner
is a camera"...
Fortunately a man, who is not afraid of letting the tedious process of
reading and answering questions get in the way of bestowing the
benefit of his genius on the plain people of colorsyncland, got
straight to his point.
Where was Wikipedia when I thought that the F10 was just 7 releases
better than what I actually wanted?
Too much green you say? No, no Mr Client, you're just interpreting the
data in a most unscientific way. There's not such a thing as "the
colours are all wrong". You just need to understand how difficult it
is taking a photo with 3 thermometers and a scanner that you bought by
mistake.
All I can say is how lucky we are that this forum gives those people
who couldn't sell the output of their scanners and cameras the
opportunity to give us (who do) their fine words of encouragement and
support.
Would it be possible to carry on without it?
